
With a career spanning over three decades, Andrew Gray is a leader in the creative and cultural industries, known for his vision, strategic insight, and passion for community-focused projects. As the Executive Director of South East Arts, Andrew transformed the regional arts landscape, generating significant funding and spearheading high-impact events such as Headland Writers Festival and the award-winning Giiyong Festival. His initiatives have fostered vibrant creative networks and established enduring partnerships in the arts sector.
Andrew has an ability to merge creativity with strategy, evident in his support for various creative businesses and organisations, covering diverse areas including screen, museums/heritage, music production, theatre and First Nations cultural experiences. His leadership extends to governance and capacity building, supporting not-for-profits through accessing funding and strategic planning, as well as personalised business mentoring for hundreds of creative practitioners as a Creative Industries Business Advisor with Creative Plus Business.
Earlier in his career, Andrew worked at national cultural institutions, including the Australian War Memorial, National Film and Sound Archive and Old Parliament House (Museum of Australian Democracy), where he designed award-winning education programs and curated interactive experiences that drew record visitor numbers. His pioneering work in museum theatre, public programs and exhibition development combined historical storytelling with hands-on learning, making culture accessible to diverse audiences.
